Schmidt Futures
Dr. Simon Driscoll is a climate modeller currently working in the Schmidt Futures funded Scale-Aware Sea Ice Project, where he uses machine learning to learn and emulate physical processes related to sea ice thermodynamics. He has extensive experience in researching volcanic eruptions and their effect on climate, both their observed impacts on the climate and in the ability of many of the world’s climate models to reproduce these observed responses (such as a strengthening of the Arctic polar vortex). Formerly part of the UK’s SPICE project, his research has helped question the accuracy of geoengineering modeling studies.
