James Lawrence Balsillie
Former Chairman and co-CEO of Research In Motion (BlackBerry)
Jim Balsillie’s career is unique in Canadian business. He is a former Chairman and co-CEO of Research In Motion (BlackBerry), a Canadian technology company he scaled from an idea to $20 billion in sales globally.
He is the co-founder of the Institute for New Economic Thinking, the Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI), the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the CIO Strategy Council. He currently chairs the boards of CCI and CIGI and is a co-Chair of CIOSC. He is also the founder of the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Arctic Research Foundation and the Centre for Digital Rights. He is a member of the Global Advisory Board of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and an Honorary Captain of the Royal Canadian Navy.
Mr. Balsillie was the only Canadian ever appointed to US Business Council and the sole private sector representative on the UN Secretary General’s High Panel for Sustainability. He is the only Canadian member of the US Council on Competitiveness and an internationally renowned voice on innovation strategy, competitiveness and international economic policy. He testified to the US Senate on America Innovates Act, a landmark legislation for management of intellectual property. Mr. Balsillie holds degrees in a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Toronto, an MBA from Harvard Business School and is a fellow with Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
His awards include: Mobile World Congress Lifetime Achievement Award, India’s Priyadarshni Academy Global Award, GSMA Lifetime Achievement Award, Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Time Magazine’s World’s 100 Most Influential People and three times Barron’s list of “World’s Top CEOs.”
American actor, comedian, writer, director, businessman, and producer
Rainn Wilson is an American actor, comedian, writer, director, businessman, and producer. He is well known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the American version of the television comedy The Office, for which he has earned three consecutive Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Wilson is a committed climate change advocate. He also founded the website and YouTube channel SoulPancake. As of February, 20 2019 the channel has over 3 million subscribers, and over 557 million video views. SoulPancake has been featured on Oprah Winfrey’s Satellite Radio Show and Super Soul Sunday. The tagline of the brand is: “We make stuff that matters.” They were named one of Fast Company’s 10 Most Innovative Companies in Video for 2015. More recently, SoulPancake was ranked #114 on the 2015 Inc. 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America List. In October 2016, it was purchased by Participant Media.
Second-generation proprietor of Jackson Family Wines & Founder of Grounded
Julia Jackson, a second-generation proprietor of Jackson Family Wines, has dedicated her life to the environment on a global scale. Julia founded Grounded, a non-profit organization, to identify and accelerate the most impactful solutions to ensure a livable planet.
With a goal to address the global climate crisis, Julia launched Grounded in 2018, convening scientists, policymakers, world leaders, investors and front-line organizations at its inaugural summit to share transformative ideas and co-invest in innovative solutions. Now, guided by Julia’s leadership, Grounded is supporting and connecting the most substantive and data-driven solutions to help make a tangible difference in our planet’s trajectory within the 10 year IPCC timeline.
Julia spent a decade working within the family’s international business, focused on marketing, brand creation, and international sales, bringing this global perspective and expertise to her work in the environmental space. Through strategic partnership and outreach, she is leading a collaborative effort focused on immediate systemic change. Her track record of working on transformative issues has earned awards including North Bay Business Journal’s 2019 Top Women in Business, Culinary Institute of America Commencement Speakers 2019, Cambria: Seeds of Empowerment, honors from the Global Green organization, and several wine industry accolades. She is a graduate of Scripps College in California.

Todd Krim, a lawyer-turned-charity matchmaker left his successful practice to pursue a higher calling. Over the past decade Todd, known in Hollywood circles as “Mr. Charity,” has become the entertainment industry’s go-to person for charities looking to connect with celebrities and vice versa. He’s fostered partnerships between countless nonprofits and celebrities, advised for-profit companies on social impact campaigns, and produced widely-publicized charity events.
Todd also takes the time to share valuable insights at conferences with notable organizations such as the Center for Nonprofit Management and The Giving Back Fund. He has been featured in major magazines and media outlets including USA Today, The New York Times, The Chronicle of Philanthropy and The Hollywood Reporter. For the past few years Todd has donated his services to The White House and Congress arranging for celebrities to testify on the Hill and supporting First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative and College Signing Day.
Director, Every Breath Matters
Callum Grieve, with over 20 years experience in climate change and sustainability communications, Callum leads Every Breath Matters: a global campaign dedicated to securing clean air for all by 2030.
Previously, Callum was the Communications Director for Sustainble Energy for All: a global non-profit focused on securing clean, affordable, reliable energy for everyone – and getting it done it well before 2030. Before that, Callum was the Communications Director for We Mean Business: an international campaign driving corporate climate action and calling for ambitious climate policy.
Prior to this, Callum was the Communications Director at The Climate Group: an international non-profit working to promote ambitious climate change action with business and government. Callum has coordinated high-level climate change communications campaigns and interventions for the United Nations, World Bank Group, C40, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor Charlie Christ, Governor Jennifer Granholm, Dr. Wangari Maathai, and several Fortune 500 companies.

Former CEO of We Mean Business
Nigel Topping is the former CEO of We Mean Business, a coalition of organizations working on climate change with thousands of the world’s most influential businesses and investors.
We Mean Business harnesses business leadership to support the implementation and policies that accelerate action on climate change. Topping has 18 years experience in the private sector, consulting for and running manufacturing businesses. Previously, he was executive director of CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project). Prior to joining CDP, he spent 18 years in the manufacturing sector, most recently as a member of the MBO team and senior vice president of supply chain for an automotive component manufacturing company with a turnover of $800 million and facilities all over the world.
Topping has extensive international experience, having worked in Spain, the USA, Germany and the UK at various times in his career. He also has significant experience in emerging markets, having led projects in Brazil, India and China. He holds a BA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and an MSc in Holistic Science from Schumacher College.
